IMC Companies Acquires Empire Truck Lines

(Memphis, TN) – Effective March 12th, IMC Companies will acquire Empire Truck Lines (www.emtl.com) a transportation industry leader founded in 1975. Empire has operations in Memphis, Dallas, Houston, Tulsa, San Antonio, Laredo and El Paso.

This acquisition significantly increases IMC Companies’ truck capacity and further solidifies the transportation leader’s position as the largest marine drayage company in the United States. The acquisition also allows GIS and IMC Companies to offer its customers a full service depot in the Houston market including container lifts and storage. Employees from Empire’s Dallas, Tulsa and Memphis locations will join IMC Companies’ Intermodal Cartage brand. Employees with Empire’s Houston, Laredo, El Paso and San Antonio locations will join IMC Companies’ Gulf Intermodal Services brand.

The IMC Companies national family of brands includes Atlantic Intermodal Services (AIS), DNJ Intermodal Services (DNJ), Gulf Intermodal Services (GIS), H&M Intermodal, Intermodal Cartage Company (IMCG), Ohio Intermodal Services (OIS) and Pacific Drayage Services (PDS).

“I am impressed with Empire’s leadership, history, service, values and team members,” says Mark H. George, Chairman of IMC Companies. “Like us, they are a family organization specializing in container drayage and superior customer service. It is through such strategic acquisitions that we are able to handle freight in all major rail and port facilities across the nation.”
